Immerse yourself in timeless, urban luxury with The Dolder Grand, Zurich

The Dolder Grand is the perfect environment for people seeking pleasure, exclusivity and relaxation: 175 luxurious rooms and suites, exquisite cuisine, a 4,000 square meter spa and generous banquet facilities. The original “Curhaus” dating back to 1899 is reintroduced as the luxury City Resort. Its elevated location, between the pulsating city life and a refreshingly natural green area, offers a magnificent view of the city of Zurich, the lake and the Alps.

The 175 rooms are as quiet as the place. A neutral palette with hints of lilac or tonal oranges composes a harmonious scene set with base units in natural textures such as leather, dark oak and linen. Rooms in the Norman Foster wings are elegant and light thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows, but those in the main building ooze opulence, with richly patterned headboard panels. For pizzazz, there are four ‘best suites’, including one in the central tower and one painted black and pink and named after London’s 100 Club.

Balconies are standard in the Double Rooms, along with coffee machines, rarefied chocolate truffles handcrafted by haute cuisine chef Heiko Nieder, and tech including automatic blackouts and blinds, and square Bang & Olufsen TVs. Beds are big and pillow-soft, while bathrooms are excellent: Clad in white marble or sand-colored Jura limestone, they have heated robes, Kerstin Florian toiletries, and side-jet showers. Some also have hot tubs with candlelight and views. The ones with a lake view are the best, but the golf course and forest view rooms have a wooded retreat feel.

Two restaurants and the Bar make dining and drinking at the Dolder Grand a memorable experience. The Saltz restaurant, designed by artist Rolf Sachs, exudes a unique atmosphere of relaxed familiarity combined with an air of understated opulence. It is a place where guests can challenge their preconceptions and see things from a whole new perspective.

A la carte chef Julian Mai has created a menu of uncomplicated sophistication, which is characteristic of the simple yet refined approach he takes to cooking and his belief in the use of regional ingredients and specialities. Dessert lovers will enjoy the unique creations of confectioner Christian Hümbs.
